David, I used to do a lot of laser surgery, with KTP, CO2 lasers, through Zeiss scopes of various kinds, what references are you using for the word "microdissection"? Reading the content so far, it seems to be from the perspective of genomics. See Laser-capture dissection. Although Judith Kimball pioneered laser microdissection for developmental biology a long time ago. Nancy's description above sounds more like that angle from a surgical perspective.
