I'm a historian teaching at the University of Iowa. I write on Russian history, European history and world history. I was an undergraduate at Grinnell College and a graduate student at Berkeley. Before coming to Iowa, I taught at Harvard, Columbia, and NYU. I also was a writer and editor for The Atlantic Monthly.
