I have specifically avoided a discussion on the notions of "strong" AI and "weak" AI. These categories have been used by some to denote the ultimate goals of the AI community. It is not clear to me the the "entire AI community" has any "shared or common goal" so I have avoided the subject. Whether the field of AI will ultimately build a machine that is "smarter" than the average human is a matter of debate. I certainly feel that the nearer term goals of making systems that are improved with respect to adaptiveness, reactiveness, deliberateness and complexity and worth pursuing in the meantime. --Stu Rodgers 10:39, 9 May 2007 (CDT)
