Use the Upload Wizard instead. The below will have you filling in much more than needed for most uploads and is only for when the upload wizard lacks what you need.

  • Try to follow the directions here exactly as described. If its just too confusing to you, just upload your file and place at least the source of the image, i.e., where you got the image from. That way, others can do the needed tidying up.
  • If you follow the directions below, as soon as you are done uploading your image by these directions, the code to place it into your article will appear on the page! Just copy and paste it in.
For help see Images Help.

1. Click "Browse...", locate the file on the your hard drive, and click on it. The name of the file will appear both where it says "Source filename" and "Destination filename".

2. Give your file a more descriptive name in "Destination filename" so people can find it when searching. Except for the file extension (e.g., .jpg), the "source filename" and "destination filename" do not have to be the same. For example: If the Source filename is Pol-peas.jpg, rename it Art - Kanhart - Peasants of Podolia, Poland - 1860.jpg in Destination filename.
