South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea, is an East Asian country that occupies the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. It is bordered by the North Corea to the north, and is surrounded by the Yellow Sea to the west (across which China lies) and by the Korea Strait to the east (across which Japan lies). The capital is Seoul.
