Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Milton Beychok 23:52, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Milton. The differences to WP are not that big, so I hope I shall be coping ... Bedtime now, it being 3.50 am in my part of the world ;-) CU -- Elmar J. Lordemann 01:50, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Helping you with Werner Ipta article

Elmar, actually you did fairly well with the Metadata template!! I added a workgroup cat (cat1) of Sports. On the top of our Welcome page, you will see our 6 major article divisions. Click on Recreation and you will find a number of Workgroups ... one of which is Sports. That is the obvious choice for a soccer (football) player.

I also added the Status (to the Metadata template) as 3, which indicates a stub article. And I marked Yes for cleanup, meaning it needs further work and expansion.

Then I created the main article page for you. First, I clicked on "Start Article" in the left-hand navigation column on all Citizendium (CZ) pages. Then I entered the title as "Werner Ipta" and went to the article's edit page. At the very top of the Edit page, one must enter {{subpages}}. Then I entered the one sentence of the stub article and saved the page.

Next I created the article's Talk subpage for you by going to the edit page of the Talk page and entering {{subpages}} at the very top and saving the page.

Now, you should create the Definition subpage. You can access it from the Talk page. It already has <noinclude>{{Subpages}}</noinclude> at the top of the page. Don't change it ... leave it exactly as it is. Write a definition that does not include the article title. For example: "A former European soccer player who was ....."

Then later on, after the article is expanded, create the the Related Articles subpage. CZ articles do not include a "See also" section as in WP. Instead, links to other relevant CZ articles are put in the Related Artceles subpage. That subpage must also have {{subpages}} at its very top.

If you also create a "Bibliography" and/or an "External Links" subpage, they must also have {{subpages}} at the their top.

In other words, CZ articles consist of a "cluster": the main article and all of the subpages such as Talk, Definition, Related Articles, Bibliography and External Links.

That's the end of my tutorial on creating a CZ article. Milton Beychok 02:05, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
