An adenocarcinoma is a highly malignant carcinoma, with a glandular organization. It is a serious diagnosis in neoplasms of solid organs such as the breast and pancreas. It is the most common cancer of lung and colon. Surgery, usually with adjuvant chemotherapy, offers the only hope of cure. Palliative chemotherapy also is used. The specific antineoplastic agents vary with the affected organ.
