Pete lives in Portland, Oregon, and is committed to improving the Commons. He would like to see the public become more educated and more engaged in determining our collective future, and works tirelessly toward that goal. Much of his work in this arena has been on Wikipedia, where as of late 2007, he has over 6,000 edits under the username [[wikipedia:User:Peteforsyth]].

He has been an active contributor on the English language Wikipedia since 2006, and has volunteered on a number of other projects in the open content world, including the Open Directory Project, AboutUs.org, Wikisource, Wikinews, and Portland, Oregon's city wiki.


Pete also works as a computer consultant.
Pete holds a BA in philosophy from Reed College, and has worked as a consultant in communications, politics, and internet technology and community building.

Hmm, from my first few encounters, this place doesn't seem very collegial toward Wikipedia. Doesn't even have interwiki linking set up (like above.) Are the rumors of bad blood a central part of the mentality around here? I think I'll keep looking around for a bit before I start to contribute. Seems there's room for more than one encyclopedia on the Internets, no?
