My name is Andy Philpotts. I have a variety of informal interests in the sciences, as well as professional experience in software design and construction in areas including operating systems, network protocols, compilers and interpreters, sound synthesis, and software tools.

My bachelor's degree is a B.S. Eng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from City and Guilds, Imperial College, part of the University of London. My career has spanned over three decades and two continents. I graduated at about the time the 8080 microprocessor was introduced, and have kept myself up to date on computer technology ever since. I have worked for computer companies of all sizes, from being self-employed, through to the worlds largest (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM).
