Definition A semiconductor device consisting of a metal gate electrode separated by an insulating gate oxide from a semiconductor body. A voltage on the gate modulates the conductivity of a surface channel in the body that connects two body contacts, the source and drain. [d] [e]

The spelling semi-conductor is not familiar to me. I'd suggest the spelling be changed to semiconductor. For example this Google search turns up semiconductor 1.3 million times, while semi-conductor turns up only 171,000 times. John R. Brews 05:13, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

John, I re-named it as you requested. Milton Beychok 18:46, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
