Martin 'Marty' Scorsese (born November 17, 1942) is an American film director who is renowned for his graphic portrayal of violence and realism in his films. He has directed such films as Mean Streets (1973), Taxi Driver (1976), and The Departed (2006). Most of his films are set in the city of New York.
