KRS-One, born Lawrence Krisna ("Kris") Parker (the moniker stands for Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone) (1965-), is widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers in the history of hip-hop; certainly his career has been among the longest. His first recordings appeared in 1986, when he and DJ Scott LaRock, as "Boogie Down Productions", released the first songs from what would become the album "Criminal Minded", and more than twenty years later he continues to perform and record with considerable success.
