There have been two fireboats in Guyana in recent decades.[1]
In 2019 Guyana commissioned the Protector, a modern fireboat the government had constructed in the United Kingdom, to a design tailored for the rivers of Guyana. The new vessel cost $1.4 million US dollars, or $292 in Guyana currency. Guyanese politicians noted that the country had been without a purpose built fireboat for over 30 years.
