Charleroi is a
Belgian city, the largest municipality of
Wallonia, and head of the arrondissement of Charleroi. Located on the Sambre river, Charleroi has a population of roughly 200,000 inhabitants. It was founded in 1666 by the Spaniards and named after the king Charles II of Spain.
