Akita prefecture

Akita prefecture (秋田県 Akita-ken) is an area of Japan located in the Tohoku region of Honshu island. Its population was 1,134,000 in 2006.[1]
Akita prefecture shares its name with its own capital city, Akita (秋田市 Akita-shi).
