Thank you. £75 books are well outside my normal budget, but I may be able to find a way of getting hold of it. --Martin Wyatt (talk) 15:54, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Planning/advisory panel

Hi there, We're putting together a non-public Google group where some of us can brainstorm about how this wiki might develop in the future. I was hoping you'd be willing to join the group and advise. If you are, please email me at pgpalmer A T gmail so that I can add or invite you to the group (CZ-Advisory Panel).Pat Palmer (talk) 01:00, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, but we are moving house shortly, which severely limits my availability. --Martin Wyatt (talk) 21:03, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
Good luck moving!Pat Palmer (talk) 22:45, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Write-a-Thon this weekend

This Sunday, we're getting together on the wiki for the first time in a decade to create and edit articles loosely themed on planets, stars, galaxies and cosmic entities - or anything that involves words like those! For more information, see What's a Write-a-thon? etc. Hope to see you there! John Stephenson (talk) 16:35, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Martin, you are the very first to kick off the Write-a-Thon; please register yourself under "Keen as Mustard and Jumped the Gun"!? Pat Palmer (talk) 17:03, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Just coming up to 2 a.m. on 10 Jan in Sydney when I started (I checked). --Martin Wyatt (talk) 19:43, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Our Write-a-Thon theme this weekend is 'Messaging and Missives'. Please join us! John Stephenson (talk) 22:43, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
As for Sunday 24th, I was going to do something on maypoles, but discovered I did not have enough materials, so could only do a couple of minor alterations to The Ring and the Book. --Martin Wyatt (talk) 19:34, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, Martin! I recorded your effort on the party page.Pat Palmer (talk) 01:00, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Experimenting with the new policy suggestions

Martin, I'm with you on making some of the sub-quality or out-of-date Citable articles into normal articles again, or zapping really bad stubs etc. However, technically, there should be an election before making that official policy. But I've already experimentally revoked a few of them Citable articles in Computers that were terribly out of date and frankly embarrassing. I'm also forging ahead with allowing "lead authors" on articles, and possibly, multiple articles about a given topic (as long as they attempt to maintain an encyclopedic tone and objectivity), something I felt would help reduce conflict going forwards. So basically, I'm considering the policy suggestions as experimental policy for now. If we get more active authors in the future, we can debate it all more. In the meantime, if you see specific articles that you feel should be deleted, please contact either me and/or John S. and we'll look into it. Experimentally.

There once was a time when people would fight to the death before deleting anything. I new see the whole purpose of the wiki differently; no longer as competing directing with Wikipedia, but acting as a useful supplement to do the kinds of articles that the anonymous crowd-sourcing in Wikipedia tends to impede.Pat Palmer (talk) 18:41, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
