Stanley Victor "Stan" Freberg, born August 7, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, was a well-known recording artist, comedian, radio personality, puppeteer, author, and advertising creative director of the 1950s, primarily famous for his comedy records. His humor was generally satiric but of a relatively gentle and sensitive nature. Typical of his recordings was St. George and the Dragonet, a broadly burlesque treatment of a hit police show on television at the time, Dragnet.
