Fundraising is the act of recruiting donors for a cause. In the U.S., fundraising for nonprofit organizations (referred to by the IRS as "public charities") is often closely associated with tax-deductions , whereas fundraising for political causes is not. There are numerous forms of fundraising, including face-to-face, direct mail, and numerous other types. Fundraising can consist of soliciting donations or hosting special events to raise money.
