The Center for National Security Studies (CNSS), a non-governmental advocacy and research organization, was founded in 1974 to work for control of agencies of the United States intelligence community; a human rights and civil liberties organization intended to balance claims of national security from eroding civil liberties or constitutional rights. It was created as a joint project of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Fund for Peace, and is funded by the George Washington University National Security Archive Fund, Inc.
