Poseidon was the ancient Greek god of the sea, and secondarily of earthquakes and horses.

He was the son of Cronus and Rhea; he had five siblings who eventually divided up the world between them. Poseidon became ruler of the sea, and his brothers Zeus and Hades ruled the sky and underworld respectively. His sisters were Hestia, Demeter, and Hera.
