Aster missiles are European surface-to-air missiles, in both land and naval versions. It has inertial/datalink midcourse guidance and a J-band active terminal radar.

They are the air defense system both on the British Type 45-class and the French-Italian Horizon "air warfare frigates", part of the [rincipal anti-air missile system (PAAMS) made by a British-French-Italian joint venture, Europaams SAS.

There are two naval variants of the missile, fired from a vertical launch system.

  • Aster 30 (100km range)
  • Aster 15 (30 km range)

The Aster 30 SAMP/T is a land-based mobile missile for the French and Italian armies.

A fourth version, Aster 30 Block 1, is intended for short-range ballistic missile defense.
