Part of the Russian terminal phase A-135 ballistic missile defense system, the 53T6 (Western reporting designation ABM-3 [1] GAZELLE) is the lower-tier endoatmospheric, short-range interceptor.[2] It may have been replaced by the 55T6 (missile).[3]

The GAZELLE is similar to the former U.S. Sprint (missile). Originally, it had a nuclear warhead, but some or all may have been converted to conventional explosive (i.e., not hit-to-kill).
