The Republic of Hungary is a country in the Carpathian Basin of Central Europe, bordered by Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia. Its capital is the city of Budapest on the Danube River.

Hungary is an OECD, NATO, EU and Schengen member. The country's native language is Hungarian, a member of the Finno-Ugric family.
