Ban Me Thuot is a town in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, not far from Cambodia. It is located in Dac Lac Province, with an alternate Roman spelling of Dak Lak Province.

It is an important road junction. National Highways 14, 26, 27 and 7 connect to it. It has a regional airport.

Military operations

During the Vietnam War, it was the base for MACV-SOG Command and Control South, which ran covert operations in the southern part of Vietnam, and cross-border operations into Cambodia. During the 1975 North Vietnamese invasion, it was the first major town captured, causing large numbers of refugees to go into flight.
