The Abwehr was the military counterintelligence and human-source intelligence organization for the armed services of Nazi Germany. It was eventually dissolved, and merged into the Nazi RSHA, because it had become a center of anti-Nazi activities.

It was headed by Admiral Wilhelm Canaris.
