Built by a European consortium of British, French and German participants, Panavia, the Tornado is a fighter aircraft with several variants:

• ADV: Air Defense Version (i.e., air superiority fighter)
• IDS: Interdiction-Strike (i.e., fighter-bomber)
• ECR: Electronic Combat and Reconnaissance
