An archipelago is a chain of islands. The countries of Japan, New Zealand, The Philippines, and Indonesia are examples of archipelagos. Indonesia is the world's largest archipelago.

Major freshwater archipelagoes include the Hochelaga Archipelago and the Thousand Islands in North America.
