About me

I hold the role of Citizendium author and have been here since the pilot project began.

Academic Interests

I have very broad interests. Among them are:

• Interdisciplinarity, literature, anthropology, political economy, politics, philosophy, theology, and pedagogy.
• Micronesia, the Caribbean, Latin America

Work

I have many years international work experience. One of my main passions is adult education. My pedagogy is that of critical literacy in the vein of Paulo Freire. One of Freire's co-authors, Ira Shor, perfectly defines the pedagogy as facilitating

habits of thought, reading, writing, and speaking which go beneath surface meaning, first impressions, dominant myths, official pronouncements, traditional cliches, received wisdom, and mere opinions, to understand the deep meaning, root causes, social context, ideology, and personal consequences of any action, event, object, process, organization, experience, text, subject matter, policy, mass media, or discourse.[1]

I teach remedial literature and reading, writing, social sciences, and special topics.
