Turkey did not exist before 1923, There should be a separate article on the Ottoman Empire. Also, the origins of Turkey are not correctly given here: the situation with the breakup of the Empire and the role of the Great Powers is very complex, and needs to be explained. --Martin Baldwin-Edwards 14:51, 15 November 2007 (CST)

Please sort out this article properly, or I will delete it. It is ok to write a short stub or a more extensive piece, but this article is inchoate. Also, you should not link to your own published work unless it is absolutely essential [for a short specific reference, for example]. It is not permitted to self-advertise on CZ, even for editors. --Martin Baldwin-Edwards 04:27, 16 November 2007 (CST)
