A historical archaeologist discovers details of early pioneer life in Oregon, USA. On May 2, 1843, employees of the former former Hudson's Bay Company, and other settlers, established the first provisional American government on the U.S Pacific coast. Their community, in Oregon's Willamette Valley, was destroyed by flooding in the 1860s.
