Scott Carmichael, born December 9th, 1981 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was educated at the University of Calgary where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Computer Science with a concentration in Computational Theory and wrote a paper introducing Quantum Coin Flipping protocols which was finished in 2003.

He is the project manager for wMail, an opensource web-based email product, a contributer to many other open source projects, and is an avid snowboarder and mountain biker. He is also an amateur Photographer, with 1000s of his pictures available online for download.

He currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, where he works as a systems analyst for a medium-sized oil service company.
