Kurt was born and raised in Michigan and, despite a few brief stints out of state (Chicago, Boston suburbs, and Derby, UK) has lived his whole life there. He graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 2000 and received a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications and Film Studies from Eastern Michigan University in 2005. Currently, he is attending the University of Michigan Law School (J.D. expected December 2007) and is focusing his studies on intellectual property, media, and internet law. Current topics of research include virtual property, the application of the fair use defense to YouTube and other user-created content communities, and the history of FCC indecency regulation.
