Formed in 1918 by Rudolf von Sebottendorff, the Thule Society (Thule-Gesellschaft) was originally an occult group, but added antisemitism and antirepublicanism to its scope. It created the Workers' Political Circle with Thulist Karl Harrer as chairman, to spread its ideas and fight Communism among industrial worker. In turn, it spawned the German Workers' Party in 1919, which, in turn, became the Nazi Party. While Adolf Hitler was not among its members, they included Alfred Rosenberg, Anton Drexler and Rudolf Hess. Heinrich Himmler has been mentioned as at least sympathetic.

Von Sebottendorf was actually the alias of Adam Alfred Rudolf Glauer who also occasionally used another alias, Erwin Torre. He was "deeply influenced by Sufi mysticism, other Eastern philosophies, and in particular, the writings of Madame Blavatsky. He used Blavatsky's The Secret Doctrine to create his impression of of ancient Germanic myth, positing a coming historical moment in which he theorized that the Aryan race would be restored to prior glories by the appearance of a race of Supermen."[1]

Modern Thule Society groups have formed. [2]
