The George Hotel (or The George as it is also known) is a 4-star hotel and Category A listed building; located at 19-21 George Street in the center of Edinburgh, Scotland, close by Princess Gardens and down the hill from Edinburgh Castle. Broadband Internet access is available in many rooms.

Architecture
The George Hotel was designed by the famous neoclassical Edinburgh architect and Robert Adam and as such was given a Category A listed building status[1] in 1974.
George Street
In the mid to late 17th century the old town of Edinburgh was suffering from overcrowding and poor sanitation, a competition was held in 1766 for designs to expand the city to the north. James Craig won the competition and after revising the designs, building commenced on George Street in 1767.
