Origin

"The genesis of tactical board wargaming goes back to 1969. Up until that time, wargaming - which in the modern, recreational form only dated back to 1958 - tended to concentrate on operational and strategic subjects." Just on this, I've seen (but not read) a first edition non-fiction book by H. G. Wells which actually includes what appear to be wargame rules, so it may be quite a bit older than the 50s. I can try to get my hands on it... Anton Sweeney 18:25, 10 October 2007 (CDT)
