Pantera was an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1981. Their music from their first four studio albums was usually categorized as glam metal. These albums are now deleted and extremely rare. With the arrival of a new vocalist, they changed their musical style to groove/thrash metal. Pantera split in 2003, and the members went on to form new bands. Lead guitarist Dimebag Darrell was a victim of fatal shooting in 2004 during a concert with his new band, Damageplan.
