Part of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is part of Harvard University. Its director is Graham Allison. It is a research and graduate teaching center, somewhat similar to the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University or the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, with a declared mission of:

  • providing leadership in advancing policy-relevant knowledge about the most important challenges of international security and other critical issues where science, technology, environmental policy, and international affairs intersect
  • preparing future generations of leaders for these arenas.

Center researchers not only conduct scholarly research, but also develop prescriptions for policy reform.
