Replacing the original AN/APG-65 radar, the AN/APG-73 radar is a mid-life upgrade for the F-18 Hornet. Both are mechanically scanned, as opposed to the phased arrays on the Super Hornets. The latter initially had the the AN/APG-73 PESA radar, but now fly with the even more advanced AN/APG-79 AESA.
